VEERU IN CHIRU’S FILM HOUSE

Mattaparthi Veeranjaneyulu, about 38, a distinguished artist and my dearest friend for the last eight years, whom I met at the HCU, when he was doing his MFA in Painting, hailing from Chetaparru village near Eluru, the capital city of West Godavari district, is currently involved in acting in a small scene in the Telugu film being produced by Nagendra Babu of the Anjana Productions. Bommarillu Bhaskar is directing this film of Ram Charan Tej.

I am very happy at this wonderful episode of his life. Veeru is a great artist. His paintings are like the music of Ilayaraja. You can enjoy them as long as you can see them with your aesthetic or common eyes supported by a sensitive and sensible heart. Many rich people currently living in and around Jubilee Hills and Banjara Hills in Hyderabad get Veeru’s paintings on order. Some of his close relatives and family members are also staying with him in his rented abode at Journalist Colony in Jubilee Hills. He is a dedicated and hard-working artist. He spends 350 days in any given year being involved in his art work only. He follows 70% of the foods and lifestyle being advocated and propagated by Dr. Mantena Satya Narayana Raju. I never found even one occasion to get angry with him over the last eight years. He has been such a highly cultured, refined, sensitive and endearing personality. He did nothing to promote himself as an artist.

Veeranjaneyulu and Nagendra Babu have been friends for about two years. They still meet frequently. Veeru greatly enjoys his interaction with Nagendra Babu. He often tells me something about him. Nagendra Babu is comparatively richer than Veeru. This makes their friendship even thicker and meaningful. The presence and friendship of a good rich man energizes the spirit of an artist to work more and feel assured. Nagendra Babu is one of such well-wishers of Veeru.

Anjana Productions means Mega Star Chiranjeevi because he was the first sensational, talented and successful actor from this noted family in Andhra Pradesh, and he assigned the job of heading their production house to his younger brother Nagendra Babu. I am grateful to Chiranjeevi, Nagendra Babu and Pavan Kalyan for this warm and affectionate gesture they extended toward my friend Veeru. Films are undoubtedly powerful medium of public influence now. It is my great pleasure to soon see my humble friend and great artist in this film, even if it is a scene that lasts for a minute or so.

Recently he shared this information with me. This morning I called him up. He was then improving part of a painting to be shot shortly along with him near the Gateway of India in Mumbai. He might be there for three or four days until the shooting part involving his minor role is over. I wait for the completion of shooting of this film and its release to the theaters. I see many films just like that but this is something different; a great artist, known to very few outside Hyderabad, is being presented in this film. It’s an honor to real artists and art of India, I presume.
