He was born 30 years before me.
He entered the film industry 10 years before my birth.
He conquered me ever since I started listening to film songs on radio.
S P Bala Subrahmanyam inspires my senses deeply and takes me into an elevated world of bliss, whenever I listen to classic songs he sang years ago.
I love and admire him a lot for many reasons.
The songs he sang for Telugu films like Thoorpu Velle Railu, Aaradhana, Sitara, Sirivenneala, Shankarabharanam, Devalayam, Geetanjali, Abhinandana, Saagara Sangamam, Neeraajanam, Maro Charitra, Sankeertana and Swathi Muthyam and the like are masterpieces. To feel and experience bliss, one must listen to them.
He sang about 40,000 songs so far in various Indian languages for films. He worked with maestros in Indian film industry. He is a voice rendering artist, music director, producer and actor.
It is difficult to record the entire gamut of wonders and mysteries associated with such a great artist, one made by God, to educate and entertain others extensively.
I watch his programs like Paaduthaa Theeyaga on ETV Telugu. It is aimed at discovering budding singers in Andhra Pradesh and providing them with a platform to exhibit their hidden talent and grow ahead from there.
The perfect form of Telugu and other Indian languages Sri Baluji speaks during such programs is extraordinary. He beautifies languages with his voice.
How could this gentleman achieve so many things?
This question chases me frequently.
He speaks Kannada, Tamil, Malayalam, Hindi and English well. I am not good at Telugu also.
He is a self-made star of India.
Millions of people are suffering from various problems across India, almost every day. Listening to classic songs sung by extraordinary masters like Baluji relieves us from that stress and strain of our psyche. His songs are medicine for me.
I am not happy with many things happening in this world now but the fact is I cannot change them to my expectations. There is an order of occurrences to take place in every part of the world, in every age. We have to go along with them. When we are not interested in them at all and like to remain away from them, there is one solution for us, especially for folks like me. I call it divine escapism into utopia.
Build a thatched hut in a serene and scenic area, far away from people you love and hate. Both hate and love generate self-destructive thoughts and memories in us. Before moving permanently into that special abode of you, get about 1000 songs, sung by Baluji, recorded into a dependable device of contemporarty times, and take it with you. Listen to them whenever you feel forsaken. There is essense of life, love and tragedy in many classic songs he sang. Derive them. Experience them. Thus lead your Karmic schedule of life, in your desired mode, if possible.
I cannot describe the greatness of Baluji in words because God does not configure the lives and Karmic schedules of great people in that order. Can we record every single moment related to the life of Baluji? No. What we see, hear and feel is a fraction of what we desire to get from him. Rest is mysterious and inaccessible for us. This is universal tragedy witnessed and experienced by us.
I like to work with him in his studio or somewhere else because I love his company and the virtues he represents and practices. There must be many like me desiring to be in close association with him to derive that bliss and harmony of psyche inside, easily.
Can Baluji employ/accommodate all these creatures?
No.
Baluji is a classic personality as an artist and individual. He represents that Indian culture which we need to inculcate and practice in our lives and professions as Indians.
This piece of writing is a futile attempt by me to express a fraction of love and admiration I have for this classic Indian singer. Rest is buried in my psyche and continues to be intangible and inaccessible forever.
Can you express how much you love something/someone that you like the most in your life but you can feel and enjoy it in yourself now and then?
Can you exactly assess the depth of the oceans and the space above us in this universe but often you try to imagine something in that direction for your satisfaction?
Do you know what you are exactly and how you will think and behave tomorrow? Your thoughts and acts are not in your control!
Very few things in this world can be made tangible and understandable for all.
Such is my psychic attachment with this marvel of India.
