SUNSHINE INTERNATIONAL- A FRAUD

The following is the story of a fraudulent firm, named Sunshine International, based in New Delhi, which has been cheating many Indians for the last six years or so. This is to alert my blog readers regarding how some fraudulent firms can cheat you very easily. I am a victim in this scenario. This is my report for my dear honest Indians. I welcome your aid and advice, if any.

PROPRIETOR OF THE FIRM

R P Shah

OTHER STAFF I KNEW ABOUT

Muskan – Customer Service Executive
Santhosh – Sales and Marketing Manager
Mukesh – Technician
Pintu Singh – Technician
Rajesh Singh – Technician

A SHORT NOTE ABOUT EACH OF THESE PERSONS

R P Shah never appears to anybody, as far as I know. You imagine him as the proprietor of this firm. Since big bosses are not supposed to communicate to ordinary people, in general, I never got an opportunity to see or interact with this boss of the firm.

Muskan attends most of your calls. She can speak Telugu and Hindi well. She talks sweetly with you until you pay money to them to buy some machine from them. Thereafter she talks carelessly and angrily with you. She explains you rules whenever you ask her for something from them. In short, she is trained as a brainless cheat to talk carelessly with innocent clients. I experienced it many times. I could not correct her because she was talking about rules always.

Santosh communicated with me regarding dispatch of paper cup raw material and receipt of finished goods from me. He always maintained a tone of patience, respect and affection for me. I never saw him because he sits in his New Delhi office only as far as I know.

Mukesh came to fit my paper cup machine initially. He came all the way down from New Delhi to spend with me for two hours only working on the machine. He spent rest of the time in train journey only. Imagine him in comparison to Barack Obama.

Pintu Singh and Rajesh Singh came to my rented abode, second time, to fit a new 1 HP motor into my paper cup machine because the first motor, which came with the machine, got damaged in transport. I found them as gentlemen because they did their assigned work here and left for New Delhi.

SYSTEM OF THEIR BUSINESS

They give short classified ads in regional dailies stating that one can earn anywhere between 40,000 and 60,000 rupees per month doing this paper cup manufacturing business. Generally many unemployed, innocent and helpless youth get attracted towards this business venture. Some of them call up to above phone numbers. It is the entrance gate to the hell they are going to witness soon, in case they desire to enter it. I am one in case.

MODE OF PAYMENT

Muskan asked me what machine I want to buy to get into this business. I opted for Automatic Vertical Single Die Machine considering its low cost and chance to earn considerable amount of money as proposed by them. I thought I can earn about 50,000 rupees every month working on this machine based on this ad and the assuring words of Muskan during my initial talk with her. She told me to deposit 64,000 rupees into their current account number 037805500117 through online money transfer. I did it on 2 July, 2012. They don’t give you any receipt also for it. You have to just believe in them. I believed in them because we cannot live in India if we suspect everybody and every firm operating from the holy soil of India! Mera Bharat Mahan.

From this amount of money, 40,000 rupees is advance payment for the machine and 24,000 rupees is security deposit for supply of raw material from them. She said I have to pay the remaining amount of money 15 days after I receive the machine.

SEQUENCE OF EVENTS OF FRAUD

I briefly explain you how they cheated me. This is what I experienced so far.

1. They sent me a machine through ARC transport system within about 30 days after I paid this money to them through online banking. Shortly their technician Mukesh came to fit my machine formally. He found that the 1 HP motor, in this machine, got damaged during road transport. Muskan ordered me to pay 7,000 rupees to Mukesh towards technician fee.  I did it and also sent the damaged motor back soon on their advice.

2. They sent their technicians Rajesh Singh and Pintu Singh on 8 September, 2012, with a new 1 HP motor. They fitted this machine and went back saying that it works well thereafter but it did not happen when I started working on it.

3. I spent about 5,000 rupees to get it repaired thereafter by an experienced local mechanic. I could not work on it for about 10 days due to this repair work. Muskan told me that she does not send their technicians anymore to my place if any problem arises in my machine in future because I got it repaired by a local mechanic instead of waiting for their mechanics to come to my place in a month or so. She means that I should wait for about 30 days or so just to see that my machine works well. She is very intelligent, strategic and stupid in her answers to me. I bore it because my ball was in their court.

4. My only intention was to earn more money making more paper cups on it but I underwent many problems in this process. Nobody came forward to work beside me on this machine because it is dangerous work. Two hot dies press a paper into cup when I insert it between them carefully. They cut our fingers if we are careless. I have to pay 200 rupees per day at least to a worker to pull cut cups out from between these dies. No adult desires to get into this dangerous work for 200 rupees when there are many easy options to them out there in the open market. I managed to lure a dropout into this work. He worked with me for four days and disappeared considering the danger and hard work involved in this work.

5. My wife Srijana and I worked on it hard to somehow earn some money from this venture. She did extraordinary hard work in this regard. I only inserted square shaped sheets of papers between the two dies. She pulled cut cups from between the dies, paired them up and packed them simultaneously. One can understand the critical and difficult nature of this work only on seeing in person while we are working on this machine this way.

6. We prepared 1, 07,000 paper cups by 13 October, 2012, undergoing all these difficulties. We packed them into 15 cardboard boxes carefully, labeled them and dispatched them to the office of VRL Logistics at Rama Road in New Delhi, on 14 October, 2012, from the office of VRL Logistics in Tuni, East Godavari District, Andhra Pradesh. This material reached the office of VRL Logistics at Keerti Nagar, in New Delhi, on 22 October, 2012 around 10:22 A.M. IST based on the information I got online when I checked the website of this transport system. The folks of Sunshine International collected this material from this office around 2 November, 2012. I searched online, located the existence of my consignment and informed them about it. Then only they collected my consignment. They took that much time to take my finished goods to their office. My wife and I were waiting for the related money after the counting of the cups at their end. On 17 November, 2012, when I enquired Muskan about the payment for this material, she said that about 27,000 cups of this consignment got damaged and the remaining amount of money is deducted towards the balance cost of machine. I got this answer after struggling in this risky venture from 2 July, 2012 to 17 November, 2012. What must be the feeling and suffering of my wife, who worked hard sitting beside me for many days like a bonded labourer? How shall I earn 50,000 rupees in this process if they take weeks and weeks for everything from their end?

THE ACTUAL FRAUD IN THEIR BUSINESS

I try to explain the core of their fraudulent business below.

1. They said that the cost of this machine is 70,000 rupees but in open market, one does not buy it for 10,000 rupees also. They make these machines with low quality material in their factory and sell them at very high costs thinking that all other Indians are innocent and foolish. So, initially, just by selling this machine only, they make a profit of 60,000 rupees. You should not talk about these things. Even if you talk about it, they don’t tell you anything about it.

2. They send 1000 sheets of paper cup raw material in one bundle. We need to get each of these sheets cut into 24 square shaped pieces at some print unit because we cannot do it manually. You need to find one printer to do it for you. They do it when they have time for it.

3. We cannot make as many cups as they proposed, in reality. If they said that we can make 12,000 paper cups on my machine, it means I can make 8,000 paper cups only on it. They cheat you saying that you can make higher number of cups to lure you into this mire.

4. We have to pack 100 paper cups into one suitable polythene cover. We have to pack such 50 polythene cover packs into one cardboard box. We have to buy suitable cardboard boxes for their dispatch. We have to pack every cardboard box very carefully.

5. It takes about 10 days for a consignment to reach New Delhi from Tuni generally. Sometimes it may take 14 days also. We have to simply wait for all these days and hear some news from that end. They don’t call you up proactively. After repeated calls from our end, they collect our consignment from the office of road transport.

6. They may take any number of days to count our material. Then, they say that most of our material got damaged during transport or that we sent wrongly shaped cups. We cannot check the reality going to their office in person. So, we have to accept whatever they say in this regard. They play with you like anything in this respect. They test your patience!

7. They don’t send adequate raw material continuously. If we ask them for four bundles for a week continuously, they send two bundles after another week. We need to wait 10 days to get it and about four days to get it cut into suitable square shaped pieces by the folks of print units in our region. It is an unreliable system of dispatch of raw material always.

8. This machine works on single phase current. It may consume about eight units of commercial type current if we work on it for about 10 hours. Power cuts are prevalent in the state of Andhra Pradesh now. So, we can work on it only when there is power supply.

9. Three strong and hard-working persons have to work on this machine continuously for about 10 hours to make 10,000 paper cups. If we calculate the costs involved in this venture of self-employment like cost of paper cutting process at a print unit, cardboard boxes, labour costs, packing process and transport system, we can earn about 10,000 rupees in a month, if we work continuously for a month every day for eight hours. It is also not possible for us because they don’t send raw material adequately.

10. We need to be alert and highly careful every second when making cups on this machine because the hot dies burn our fingers if we touch them by mistake. They cut our fingers if we put between them by mistake or in hurry of making them fast. They pay 25 paise for every cup made, sent and accepted by them. For every 25 paise, you are facing a risk of losing your finger or getting electric shock. They are not responsible for anything that happens due to this machine because we opted for it for the sake of livelihood. Many are doing it in India daily.

11. This machine may fail to work at any time because its quality is so. You need to call a local mechanic and get it repaired. If you do so, Muskan says that it is a blunder and that their technicians won’t come here anymore. You need to wait for a month or so for their technicians to come and repair our machine. Is it justifiable? She bothers you in every single imaginable way from day one whenever you call her up. I experienced it silently and helplessly because I deposited 64,000 rupees into their account just like that to make a living this way!

12. Once the money is in their current account, one can do nothing with them. One becomes a beggar. I experienced such life during the period between 2 July, 2012 and 17 November, 2012. They don’t scold you or harm you directly but indirectly as explained above. You have to wait for what they do but they don’t do anything as you desire or expect from them. You are just like a helpless slave to them. Money is in their bank account. There is no proof for it. You decided to make a living out of their venture of self-employment. You are helpless. They are miles away from you. You cannot reach them in one hour. You cannot go by airplane because such people don’t do such business with such rogues of India. You simply suffer in yourself. My wife, I and others familiar to me experienced such situation during all these days.

13. Muskan asked for my bank account number about one month ago. I thought she did so to deposit the money into my account after getting my first consignment but later I understood that she did so simply to trick me. Why should she ask for my bank account number when she knows that they deduct all that initial money for their machine cost?! You think that girls are soft and sweet. I lost this impression after communicating with Muskan during all these days. She talks carelessly. She considers you like a dog on streets. I experienced such communication from her. She cannot write even one sentence in English correctly. She never replies to your email. She does not change her subject line also when replying to you but just hits reply button if there is some disappointing information for you. I got such replies only from her so far.

14. Pintu Singh and Rajesh Singh, who fitted 1 HP motor in my machine on 8 September, 2012, got me sign on an agreement of two papers. R P Shah, the great builder and king of the kingdom of this fraudulent business, got some lawyer scribble nonsense in these documents. I signed on them for the formality of it. As per moral standards of ordinary human beings, even the other party has to sign those papers and send back to me. Muskan did not do it till now. It means I should not have any proof with me, which may subject them to legal and moral distress in future. So, they commit frauds very strategically. They could cheat me working from New Delhi. I am M.A. English, blogger, writer, dreamer, idealist and visionary of India, as I often think about me. R P Shah can cheat even thinkers and dreamers like me. What about ordinary people in India? Can they write the stories of their pain and getting cheated by others this way?

15. I always wanted to earn money honestly. I thought this is an honest way for earning money. It is true also because we can earn money through a lot of hard work and patience this way. They did not pay me a little money even after waiting for 100 days. Are they honest? Are they reliable? They have a big work place in New Delhi, the capital of India, where VVIPs like Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Manmohan Singh are also living. They have an address. They are not cheating me from the sky or other country but just from my own country. My mistake is believing that all Indians are not cheats. I desired to live honestly depending on a fellow’s business originating from New Delhi. I got into this venture depending on a short classified ad given in Eenadu. I admire Ramoji Rao. That person only cheated me accepting such ads into his newspaper to make a little money. If Ramoji Rao cannot identify fraudsters before accepting ads into his newspaper, possessing so much of wealth and repute in India, with so many television channels and print media valor, how can poor, innocent, helpless and ideal Indians like me can recognize them initially? How can I know whether one is honest or not? Did Ambedkar or Kalam address this issue so far? I took about 100 days to understand the fraudulent nature of R P Shah, Sunshine International and all the members working in it publicly.

16. I took a loan of one lakh rupees, pledging the gold ornaments of my wife Srijana, on 2 July, 2012, from the office of Manappuram Finance, at Tuni, to get into this venture of self-employment and make a living through hard work. I am paying interest for it. When do I get profit from this venture to get back those gold ornaments? I could not earn even one rupee from 1 August, 2011, ever since I left the job in Hyderabad with a firm. I jumped into this venture of self-employment just to come out of that debt and distress trap. Sunshine International further complicated my life. My father-in-law, an ordinary Indian, working in an agricultural farm, away from Hyderabad, miles away from his native place, is funding my family for all these months. I depended on the business network of R P Shah to come out of this ditch. I wanted to live with self-respect doing something on my own at home, being in access to my family. It was not possible for me doing a job. Should not I desire to make a living through self-employment depending on another Indian, Mr. R P Shah? How many Indians are being cheated and bothered by him every day? Can Information Act regulate and correct Mr. R P Shah?

17. Ever since I bought this machine and started making paper cups on it, many familiar and unfamiliar ones cautioned me about the nature of business ventures originating from distant places like New Delhi? What if they cheat me cruelly? What is the purpose of working hard on a dangerous machine, along with my wife, depending on the credibility of R P Shah, a person whom I never saw in my life? I still continued to trust my fellow Indians in New Delhi.

18. I wrote a long letter to R P Shah explaining in what sense his business venture is going on in a very wrong direction because it is my moral responsibility as a thinker and dreamer of India. There was no reply from him or others related to him. Did he read that letter? Can he understand English? Does not he need English to cheat other Indians like me? Is it enough if he simply establishes such a fraudulent business venture and recruits a bunch of folks to do it on his behalf? R P Shah shares these business secrets with you if you can meet him in person in New Delhi. Meet his staff members at least to know how to cheat fellow Indians. Is this the kind of culture Hindus are learning going to temples frequently? Perhaps R P Shah must be requesting his favourite god to forgive him for living depending on the pain, suffering and tears of his fellow Indians. He cannot live without bothering and cheating others! I understood it!

19. How can I correct trained and experienced fraudsters like R P Shah, Muskan, Santosh, Mukesh, Rajesh Singh and Pintu Singh? They know that I am a writer. Rajesh Singh took a copy of my book Stories of Love and Beauty when he came to my house to repair my machine along with Pintu Singh. So, they believe that they can cheat anybody publicly. Shall I consult a lawyer? Shall I go to a court of law? How much money and time should I further invest in this process? Shall I beat or kill each of these idiots publicly or secretly? Can/should I do it? Others call me a sinner and criminal if I do so? Do police in New Delhi do me justice if I consult them? Can Anna Hazare or Kiran Bedi fight for me in this regard? Should a writer and dreamer become a shameless parasite and helpless victim to get justice in this nation? Then what about millions of ordinary Indians, who simply believe in others every day? The moment I desire to live honestly in India, depending on my pure hard work and standards as an individual, somebody is cheating me carelessly and shamelessly. This time it is R P Shah and his staff members at Sunshine International!

20. I don’t think I could narrate my story of pain and suffering, in order, in this flow of letters but I tried for it. Pain has no order. If anybody has doubts about anything in the process of my being hurt and getting cheated by the folks of Sunshine International, I answer them.

I will post the letter, which I wrote for R P Shah, earlier, and sent him by post, on this blog site, very soon, for all of you to read and understand this case study more clearly.
