POLITICS

Politics is a domain of theories and practices discussed and implemented by a set of insensitive and manipulative people aiming at establishing and sustaining a civilized and cultured way of living and coexistence among different kinds of people in a given region for a given period of time. Rulers and the ruled are the primary participants in this systematized nasty game. Politics is relatively a modern term involving cunning, selfish and influential rulers damaging the lives of the poor and the voiceless in many ways in the modern times in different nations. Politics studied as a subject is different from the politics practiced by the rulers and the ruled. Though there were different kinds of governments earlier, currently the most appreciated form of public rule across the world is democracy, which is defined as “of the people, by the people and for the people” by Abraham Lincoln. Democracy is not in its right form in many developing nations today because democracy demands the active participation of the educated and enlightened citizens of a nation in electing the right kind of rulers in a highly systematic and honest way. India is the best example today to study how a set of rogues can dismantle and disfigure the strength, beauty and integrity of a nation when they are elected by a set of ignorant masses and hated by a number of intelligent people. The following is an attempt, with a few examples, to show you how democracy and politics can be ruined in a nation like India, when the right people turn a deaf ear to politics and the wrong people elect sinners and criminals.

People

1. 80% of poor Indians choose 90% of criminals, cheats and dacoits to their respective legislatures at the state and centre level to rule them on their behalf, not knowing the credentials of the contestants or due to helplessness where they need to choose one of the many liars, thieves and dacoits fighting for a political position.

2. Election commissions, configured by cruel and manipulative politicians above them, can neither reform the electoral system nor ban elections in the nation. They compel people to elect their villains periodically.

3. In politics, two kinds of people can exist and thrive; those that can cheat others strategically or those that can remove the virtuous in their knowledge in secret ways. Telling beautiful lies, hiding their blunders in an intelligent way, misguiding the masses, suppressing the intelligent, killing the angry or pacifist social reformers and being ready to do any crime or sin to acquire and retain the political power are their main characteristics. They live and die for political power and anything else comes later.

4. Since the intelligent remain negligent toward participating in democracy considering the good rule of their rulers initially, the latter gradually turn out chameleons and villains. They dislike or suppress the active participation of the enlightened, once they become politically strong because they don’t like others questioning them or trying to take political power from them. It is ultimately common people that revolt against such governments of anarchy and kill them with guidance from intellectuals. History shows that it is a few intellectuals and idealists that guide a set of exploited and infuriated masses to bring a great positive change in a given place. Unrest, disorders and demerits are the primary characteristics of politics in every age. Certain classes of people always suffer in it.

Rulers

1. Rulers consider their people idiotic, pitiable, brainless, voiceless, defenseless, nonsensical, foolish, and negligible after assuming powerful positions with the support and goodness of the latter. They make politics a business in the process. Cheating public and living happily at their end is the primary hidden agenda of most of the rulers in a bad democracy.

2. They devise and implement different policies and measures to extract public money in all the possible ways and use it for their benefit as long as they are in power. People keep watching their corrupt game helplessly.

3. Rulers are the worst kind of victims and sinners in the present times. They neither trust their shadows nor others completely. They always live in a state of distrust and fear. Resultantly they live and die with different kinds of bodily and psychic diseases though they appear attractive outside.

4. Rulers are the best actors and actresses in every age than the artistes belonging to different channels of public entertainment like dramas and cinemas. Film actors play roles in films only. Rulers can’t stop acting in their lives or on the public platforms. They commit sins knowingly.

It is surprising to note the truth over the ages that the idealists, intellectuals and visionaries that really love others, think and like to act kindly for others’ comfort and happiness, are rarely accorded political power. They discovered wonders for the humanity, wrote great books on civilizations and cultures, dreamt of highly peaceful and secure lives to all the citizens in their respective nations, and spent most of their lives suffering or thinking for the helpless around them being harassed, exploited and killed by the mighty and the cruel in power. It has been millionaires, sinners, buffoons and other kinds of lunatics that participated and died in politics over the years even in recent times. They are after money, sex, luxuries, privileges, fantasies, false prestige and exhibitionism at the cost of poverty, unrest, difficulties, helplessness, hopelessness, fear and shame surrounding the people that elected them by choice or helplessness. If you consider how the present national and regional political parties in India are changing their strategies to form alliances or shun an alliance during the time of elections, to gain political power at any cost, leaving any kind of minimum standards or values at their level, knowing that people are observing them, it’s evident that criminals and fools can make democracy a nationwide circus at their will and fancy at any time. In politics, no place for sensitivity for relationships, discipline or other basic human values and sensible behavior to some extent but just inflexible commitment and struggle to acquire political power at any cost. A nation can thrive substantially in a fast pace and peace, prosperity and joy can be established there for all, when the idealists, intellectuals, visionaries and the poor work together to kill the bad politicians and empower the virtuous to rule all.
